In a significant step toward building a future-ready agricultural workforce, the National Agri-Skills Development Program (NASDP)<\/strong> launched its latest series of on-ground and virtual training workshops<\/strong> across India this May. Aimed at equipping young farmers, agripreneurs, and rural youth with practical skills in modern agriculture, agribusiness management, and agri-tech adoption<\/strong>, the program is gaining attention for its hands-on and impact-driven approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held under the joint initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong>, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)<\/strong>, and private agritech firms<\/strong>, the training workshops are being rolled out in phases across states including Punjab, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

With agriculture becoming more knowledge-driven and competitive, this training program focuses on four core areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Precision Farming & Smart Tools<\/strong> \u2013 Using IoT sensors, drones, and mobile apps for real-time farm monitoring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Post-Harvest Management & Value Addition<\/strong> \u2013 Training on grading, packaging, storage, and direct-to-market sales.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Entrepreneurship & Agri-Business Models<\/strong> \u2013 How to build and scale Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, and agribusiness startups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Sustainable & Organic Farming Techniques<\/strong> \u2013 Covering composting, bio-fertilizers, and eco-friendly pest control.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Workshops combine classroom training, field demonstrations, and digital learning modules available in multiple regional languages<\/strong>. Participants also receive training kits and certification upon completion.<\/p>\n\n\n

    \ud83d\ude9c Hands-On Learning with Industry Experts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    One of the unique elements of NASDP is the integration of industry-led sessions<\/strong>. Companies like Mahindra Agri<\/strong>, AgNext<\/strong>, and DeHaat<\/strong> are actively participating to provide product demos, tech familiarization, and real-world case studies. This allows participants to interact with live tools, machinery, and farm analytics dashboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For instance, at a recent training session in Ludhiana<\/strong>, farmers got to operate a drone for crop spraying and learn about government subsidies under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \ud83d\udc68\u200d\ud83c\udf3e Youth-Centric, Inclusive Approach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The program is designed to encourage youth engagement in agriculture<\/strong>\u2014with a special emphasis on women farmers and tribal youth. More than 40% of participants in the first two weeks were between the ages of 18 and 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cI had never imagined agriculture could be this tech-driven,\u201d<\/strong> said Priya, a participant from Tamil Nadu. \u201cThe training opened my eyes to starting a small organic produce business in my village.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
