In an exclusive conversation, <strong>Raghav Bansal<\/strong>, CEO of <strong>HarvestLink Technologies<\/strong>, sheds light on how technology can future-proof the farm-to-market journey for millions of Indian farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFarmers are producing good quality crops, but their biggest pain point today is reaching the right buyer at the right price,\u201d says Raghav, who has worked in agritech logistics for over a decade. There\u2019s little incentive to grow high-quality or specialty crops.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To address this, HarvestLink uses <strong>real-time pricing tools<\/strong>, <strong>farmgate procurement hubs<\/strong>, and <strong>direct market linkages<\/strong> with retail chains. \u201cWhen we give farmers live updates on crop demand and pricing via our app, they can plan harvests more strategically and negotiate better,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udce1 <strong>Tech as the Backbone of Agri Logistics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Raghav believes <strong>tech-enabled traceability<\/strong> is no longer optional. \u201cWhether it\u2019s QR-coded crates or blockchain-led quality tracking, the future of agriculture is digital transparency. This builds trust between producers and consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He cites examples where retailers were willing to pay a premium for crops that could be <strong>digitally traced back to sustainable farms<\/strong>. \u201cThis not only improves farmer income but also opens doors to export markets and organic certifications.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udf3e <strong>Putting Farmers at the Center<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While technology plays a big role, Raghav emphasizes the importance of <strong>on-ground implementation<\/strong>. \u201cNo app can work if the last-mile delivery isn\u2019t strong. We work with local \u2018agri-partners\u2019\u2014often educated youth from the villages\u2014who help farmers use our systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training sessions, vernacular support, and offline data syncing have been crucial to building trust among smallholders. \u201cWe don\u2019t sell technology. We sell solutions to real-world farming problems,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf31 <strong>Policy, Partnerships, and Scale<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Raghav, partnerships with FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations), cooperatives, and government agencies are key. \u201cNo private company can scale alone in Indian agriculture. Collaborating with the public sector brings trust, reach, and regulatory alignment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He applauds the government\u2019s push for digital agriculture but warns that \u201ctop-down tech\u201d without field feedback won\u2019t work. \u201cYou have to <strong>co-create with farmers<\/strong>, not just impose solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd2e <strong>The Way Forward<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead, Raghav envisions a hybrid agri-market model where <strong>local infrastructure, digital traceability, and smart logistics<\/strong> converge to create resilient value chains. \u201cWe can\u2019t prevent climate shocks, but we can <strong>build systems that adapt quickly<\/strong>, ensure fair prices, and minimize post-harvest losses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His final message: \u201cEmpowering farmers doesn\u2019t end at the farm.
