After graduating in 2019, Harpreet returned to his village of Kotli Shahpur and saw firsthand the struggles farmers faced\u2014unpredictable weather, price volatility, and soil degradation<\/strong>. Armed with academic knowledge and a vision, he began small, digitizing his father\u2019s 8-acre wheat and paddy farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He installed soil moisture sensors<\/strong>, used weather-based crop planning<\/strong>, and started recording field data on mobile apps. \u201cThe data helped me reduce water usage, optimize fertilizer, and predict disease outbreaks. My costs dropped and yields improved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udcf1 Social Media as a Market Tool<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Realizing that market linkage was a major hurdle, Harpreet began selling his produce directly through WhatsApp groups and Instagram<\/strong>. Within months, he had built a loyal customer base in Ludhiana and Chandigarh, offering clean, chemical-free grains and vegetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t need a middleman anymore. I get better rates, and customers trust me because they see how I grow their food,\u201d he shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harpreet didn\u2019t stop with his own success. He started a YouTube channel<\/strong>, sharing tips on digital tools, organic practices, and weather alerts<\/strong>. His channel now has over 30,000 subscribers, and he regularly conducts workshops in nearby villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also collaborates with agricultural startups and Krishi Vigyan Kendras to distribute low-cost sensor kits<\/strong> and teach farmers how to use satellite data and mobile apps<\/strong> to track crop health.<\/p>\n\n\n

One of Harpreet\u2019s key goals is promoting climate-resilient farming<\/strong>. With extreme weather events on the rise, he has shifted to short-duration crop varieties<\/strong>, cover cropping<\/strong>, and micro-irrigation systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClimate change is real, and farmers are the first to feel its impact. But we can adapt\u2014if we have the right tools,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harpreet plans to start a digital farming cooperative<\/strong> where members can share equipment, access e-markets, and learn from real-time data. \u201cWe need to treat farming like a business\u2014with strategy, analytics, and branding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His story is an example of what happens when youth, education, and technology are combined with a deep respect for the land.<\/p>\n\n
